My Dream Tour: Bangalore to Kanyakumari
Kanyakumari is the southern most point in India and is known for its spectacular viewpoints and natural beauty across the city. It is also known for the place where the Indian legend Swami Vivekananda meditated, which is known as Vivekananda Rock. It was 2nd April, when I started my journey from Bangalore to Kanyakumari with my family. It was indeed my first trip to Kanyakumari, and hence I was very energized with the thought that I am going to that place where Swami Vivekananda once meditated. I was staying in my younger brother's flat in Bangalore Whitefield, from where I booked a cab on 2nd April, and my destination was Bangalore SMVT station. Actually, my train was scheduled to leave Bangalore SMVT station from 5:15 PM towards Nagercoil junction in Kanyakumari. The train which we booked was Nagercoil Express. The train left Bangalore SMVT station at the usual hours of 17:15. Initially our compartment was not having any other passengers except us, but, gradually, as it passed several stations, passengers began stepping into. The funny incident happened when the train reached Madurai junction approximately at 3 AM. Passengers were speaking in Tamil language and we were speaking in Bengali. So neither of us were understanding our languages, which was really funny. However, we managed to talk to them in English and they understood. Finally, we reached Nagercoil junction at 8:30 AM on 3rd April 2023. After we reached Nagercoil junction, we hired a cab and started our journey towards Kanyakumari beach where we booked the hotel. As we were going by cab towards Kanyakumari, the natural beauty of the surroundings mesmerized me. Wherever we were seeing, only coconut trees were visible, with frequent valleys covered with forest. Finally we reached our hotel "Sun Rock" in Kanyakumari after 45 minutes of journey.
The hotel was very good with the facility of lifts. However, to bring lunch, tea, or some other foods, either you can ask the hotel staffs to bring foods for you, or you can take your foods from local hotels. One thing I want to say that if you are coming from other states, you may have some problem regarding the food choice as the common foods over there are Luchi, Idli, Dosa. There are not so many food variations available in Kanyakumari. So, without wasting time, we took our bath and lunch and took some rest. In the afternoon, we went to Kanyakumari beach, that took nearly 10 minutes walking distance from our hotel. On the way to Kanyakumari beach, you will find many stalls selling sea items like sea shell, Conchshell (Sankha), toys for children, cosmetic items for women, and many more. Just beside the Kanyakumari beach, you will find the Kanyakumari temple which is dedicated To Goddess Kanyakumari, which is a historic temple to watch, and as you move forward, you will finally come to Kanyakumari beach, that is just splendid to watch. You have to carefully walk over the rocks in the beach and you can shoot your photos as per your choice. Local photographers are also there to take your photos. The sunset view was just marvelous to watch. People from different countries also visit Kanyakumari. I was having a conversation with one of the tourists who came from France to visit Kanyakumari. As I was walking through the rocks, I was spellbound to see the colorful fishes swimming in the ocean water. The water was crystal clear. It was just awesome to watch the view of Vivekananda Rock from the rock where you stand in the Kanyakumari beach.
So, after spending some time in Kanyakumari beach, I was going back to hotel. While going back to hotel, I bought some toys for my son, sea shell, and some Conchshells (Sankha). One of the most important thing is that, some of the local people can understand and even talk in Bengali. I was quiet surprised to see when a stall owner suddenly started speaking in Bengali while I was asking the price of Conchshell. Since you know that Kanyakumari belongs to Tamil Nadu and people over here are very gentle with good behaviours. Another important information I want to provide is that, there are not so many frequent medical shops available in the area where we were staying in the hotel near Kanyakumari beach. If you do not understand the local people's language or they do not understand your language, try to speak in Hindi. Every people over there understand Hindi. So, if you know a little bit of Hindi, there will be no problem. You can find several tour and travellers around the region, from where you can go to your next destination from Kanyakumari. Even if you ask the hotel staffs that you want to go for some other tourist places, they can arrange the same for you. Kanyakumari beach is not so much crowded and you will overwhelmed to enjoy the city (Kanyakumari).
